Hari Varshney


Founder & Partner

Mr. Varshney, a Chartered Accountant (Fellow of the ICABC), has been involved in raising hundreds of millions of dollars for various venture capital projects around the world. He has been in the venture capital business since 1985 and during this period has been a director and/or officer of many public companies trading on various North American exchanges. He has also been very actively involved in the community and supported various charitable projects for over 25 years. He is the past Chair of St. Paul’s Hospital Foundation, and a former director of Canada India Village Aid Association (CIVA) and College of Denturists of BC and a director of the Indo-Canadian Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Varshney was also a 2006 British Columbia Community Achievement Award and a 2009 inaugural Canadian Immigrant of the Year recipient. In June 2015, Mr. Varshney was awarded the Order of British Columbia which represents the highest form of recognition the Province can extend to its citizens.


Praveen Varshney



Praveen has been a driving force in the Vancouver business world. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of British Columbia (UBC) in 1987.  Following that, he was with KPMG from 1987 to 1991 where he obtained his C.A. designation in 1990. He is a long time member and past President of the Vancouver chapter of The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) and a founding director of the Vancouver chapter of The IndUS Entrepreneurs (TiE).  Mr. Varshney was a 12 year member of the Sauder School of Business Faculty Advisory Board, a former Director of The Vancouver Board of Trade, and a past recipient of Business in Vancouver’s 40 Under 40 Awards.  He is also a director of the Varshney Family Charitable Foundation, a SVP Vancouver Partner, and a Director of and a Founding Member of He’s also on the Advisory boards of Room to Read – Vancouver, Heart & Stroke Foundation – BC Yukon and The Thomas Edison Innovation Foundation in New Jersey, USA.


Peeyush Varshney



Mr. Varshney is a lawyer with experience in corporate / commercial and securities law. He obtained a Bachelor of Commerce degree (1989) and a Bachelor of Laws degree (1993) from the University of British Columbia. Mr. Varshney also serves as a director of the Varshney Family Charitable Foundation.

Rob Kang


Rob is a results-driven Leader with comprehensive Canadian Securities market and business background. He has a combined 27 years of public practice and company management advising corporations and their executives on financing, mergers and acquisitions, going public transactions, continuous disclosure obligations, and corporate governance.

Rob has extensive knowledge and expertise in Venture Exchange practices, policies and regulatory compliance and risk mitigation. He has outstanding analytic, interpersonal, management and presentation skills. Rob is results-oriented with the mindset of facilitating the achievement of business objectives.


Karan Thakur


Mr. Thakur leverages his passion for start-ups and venture financing by identifying and helping early stage companies raise capital.

His approach to start-up financing focuses on working with passionate entrepreneurs with a strong and clear vision for their ventures with a deep driving desire to make an impact. Mr. Thakur’s areas of interest include Insurance Tech, FinTech, and Social Impact Ventures.


Zac Dolesky


Coming from an athletic career, Mr. Dolesky brings a competitive perspective to venture financing. At Varshney Capital, he is a core member of the due diligence team and primarily focused on the technology sector. In this role, Zac streamlines deal intake, facilitates internal evaluation, due diligence and integration processes. He also assists in the development and execution of transactions, as well as the monitoring and managing of portfolio investments.
